Zo Amani is the Vice President of Wealth Management at Citi, where he leverages his extensive experience in financial services, compliance, and policy to serve clients with tailored wealth strategies. Prior to joining Citi, Zo held the position of Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at Industrial Bank, where he was instrumental in strengthening the bank’s compliance framework and strategic initiatives.
Zo’s career spans significant roles within federal agencies and financial institutions. He served as a policy advisor in the Office of Consumer Policy at the U.S. Treasury Department, providing critical insights into consumer protection and financial regulation. He also worked as a senior consumer compliance bank examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, a CRA coordinator at the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC), and an analyst at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
Academically, Zo is ABD in his Ph.D. studies in Public Administration and Public Affairs at Virginia Tech. He earned bachelor’s degrees in Consumer Studies and Sociology from Virginia Tech in 2012, a master’s in Higher and Post-Secondary Education from Arizona State University in 2014, and a graduate certificate in Economic Development from Virginia Tech in 2020.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Zo is committed to community engagement and education. He has volunteered as a financial literacy and economics education instructor at the Federal Reserve and has served as an academic coach and mentor at Virginia Tech and Arizona State University. He also served on the Board of Visitors at Virginia Tech and on the Board of Directors for the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA).

My academic research focuses on policy processes, systems design, implementation, and evaluation. My dissertation examines the role of financial literacy state mandates for high school students in the U.S., evaluating financial education standards as a means to empower young adults in a complex global economy.”
